On the 6th of September, Tiwa Savage announced her collaboration with MAC (Make-up Art Cosmetics). It was quite a milestone for her, being the first African to collaborate with the brand, bringing Africa closer to the leading American cosmetics manufacturer, MAC.
Following the announcement, Tiwa took to her Instagram page, inviting make-up enthusiasts for a hangout at her first MAC Maker launch event on Friday, 9th of September in Lagos. During the event that took place at The Art Hotel Lagos, Tiwa Savage talked about her collaboration with the brand and the process of formulating her new signature lipstick.
In her words, “This is a special moment for us. Africans use a lot of makeup but are not recognized, so this collaboration is long overdue.” She added, “I chose this shade because I wanted something strong, bold, beautiful, and represents women of my complexion because it is difficult for ladies of my complexion to find a suitable red. You can gloss it up when you want to feel like a “MAC gyal” but even though it is matte, it is not your typical dry matte.”

After her New York launch party, Tiwa Savage had an official launch of her collaboration with MAC in Lagos on Saturday, the 17th of September, 2022.
