Singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido is a famous and well-loved Afro beats musician in Nigeria.
He recently went on a break from his socials and everybody felt his absence. People were overjoyed when he showed up on the 21st of March and announced his new Album ‘Timeless‘ scheduled to be out on the 31st of March. Additionally, he promised to bring the album to live on the 2nd, 5th and 23rd of April in New York, UK and Lagos Island respectively.
Davido’s absence from social media was felt by many and coming back felt like a dream come true to so many. Undoubtedly, Davido has a soft spot in people’s hearts and they always show it through their love and support for his craft. Here are 4 out of many reasons why we think 001 is loved.
1. He makes good music.
Davido is one of the best Nigerian artists with high fanbase and good music history. He makes masterpieces both in singles and when featured and they’re well-accepted both locally and internationally. His ‘Timeless’ album has taken over the charts and we love that for him. Davido founded his record label “Davido Music Worldwide (DMW)” in 2016. Not only did he recently rebrand it to DMW 2.0, but he has also signed two new artists (Morravey and Logos Olori) in addition to the former signees; Mayorkun, Liya, Peruzzi, and May D, among others.
2. He’s a Philanthropist.
Davido is popularly known as ‘O.B.O’ (Omo Baba Olowo, a Yoruba nickname that means “The son of a rich man”). Despite his father’s wealth, Davido has been a go-getter from the get-go and he can boast of his self-acquired wealth. Through his wealth, he has touched lives, especially that of the people around him. He gives money back to the public by helping to fund many businesses and has offered scholarships to underprivileged children.
3. He is quite entertaining, not only with his songs.
Davido is one of the celebrity that makes the Internet interesting for us Nigerians because of his online cruise and jokes. This was one of the reasons why his absence was greatly felt when he took his break. There is no dull moment with O.B.O, especially when he is with one of his team members, Isreal.
4. He’s humble and down-to-earth.
Those who have met Davido in person usually attest to the fact that he’s quite humble. He treats members of his team amazingly well and isn’t derogatory towards people.
All these, and many more, are why people really love and appreciate Davido.
