Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems has achieved another milestone in her music career as she recently stars on Black Panther sequel soundtrack. This was revealed on the 23rd of July after the trailer of the Marvel Studio Production blockbuster was debuted. The movie is scheduled for a November 11 release.
The Nigerian singer and songwriter performs a solemn rendition of Bob Marley’s ‘No, Woman No Cry’ at the beginning of the teaser. The song gradually transitions into Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Alright’.
Tems became one of the hottest Nigerian and African artists internationally following her feature in Wizkid’s ‘Essence’. The 27-year-old bagged her first international award last month as she won the Best International Act at the BET Awards. She was nominated alongside fellow Nigerian artiste Fireboy, Dave (UK), Dinos (France), Fally Ipupa (Congo), Little Simz (UK), Ludmilla (Brazil), Major League Djz (South Africa), and Tayc (France). She also won the Best Collaboration award for her record with Wizkid and Justin Bieber, “Essence”.
The famous Nigerian artiste featured on Drake’s, and Future’s albums. Just a few days ago, Tems got songwriting credit on Beyonce’s soon-to-be-released album, ‘Renaissance’.
Tems’ meteoric rise in the industry has been recognized by other female celebrities, including Tiwa Savage, Beverly Naya, Simi, among others.
