Tiwatope Omolara Savage, popularly known as Tiwa Savage, is set to make her first film this year. In 2021, Tiwa released her EP titled “Water And Garri”, a masterpiece widely accepted by her fans worldwide.
Seemingly, the EP has inspired a story, and the superstar is ready to grace our screens with yet, another talent – acting. Today, January 10, 2024, Tiwa Savage took to her Instagram page to announce that the film “Water And Garri” will be released this year.
In her words:
“Guys, I’m so excited to announce that my first feature film #WaterAndGarri will be released this year through @primevideo and shown in over 240 countries and territories worldwide! This has been over two years in the making, and I must say this is probably one of the most adventurous, fulfilling things I’ve done. I feel blessed and honored not only to be making my debut as a lead actor but also to have executively produced this film.

In an article written by Screen Daily on the 14th of February and posted on @waterandgarrifilm, it was revealed that the Number One Africa Bhad Gyal wrote and also performed the film’s original soundtrack.
The synopsis of the film reads:
“WATER AND GARRI tells the story of Aisha (Savage), an ambitious fashion designer. Now with a budding career in the U.S., she returns to her native home after 10 years away following a family bereavement. At home, things have changed. Violence has escalated, and tensions have been high. As she reconnects with family, old friends, and her past love, she must learn to live with her scars and confront the guilt she left behind. “This project was a complete labor of love that has been a dream of mine for a number of years.
Performing as Aisha allowed me to be totally vulnerable and pushed me to express myself in a way that I’ve never done before,” said @tiwasavage. “It was an honor to share my debut as an actress in a leading role with Meji whilst filming on the African continent with a cast and crew that I have immense admiration and respect for. The drama stars actors like Mike Afolarin, Jemima Osunde, Andrew Bunting, among others.
