A healthy looking skin speaks “time and effort”. It can be overwhelming when trying to choose the perfect skincare product for your skin type because there are a lot out there.
Everyone with pampered-looking skin has a consistent skincare routine. We don’t need all the skincare products in the world to improve our skin’s appearance. Here are 6 skincare products to make you feel good in your own skin.
1. Cleanser
This is the first product you should use. A good cleanser will rid your skin/face of all dirt, build up, make up, and anything that affects your skin.
Applying a skincare product to an unclean face won’t be effective as the product has to now penetrate the oil and dirt that has accumulated on your skin. So it’s better to use a cleanser/ face wash before you apply any product to your skin because it clears your pores to readily absorb any product you apply to your skin.
2. Toner
A toner should be used after a cleanser to balance the pH of the skin. A cleanser can alter the natural pH of the skin, but a toner helps to level it. Not to forget that it also removes any remaining impurities on the skin while hydrating it.
It is a nice choice for those with dry or dehydrated skin. It prepares the skin for better absorption of whatever product is to be applied next.
3. Moisturizer
Moisturizers are important to keep your skin moisturized. They work by trapping water in the skin to prevent evaporation which keeps your skin soft, smooth, and healthy looking.
It is important to rub a moisturizer on damp, not dry skin, so there’s moisture to be sealed in. The moisturizer can also be used to trap in whatever products you’ve applied to your skin to make them more effective.
4. Sunscreen
The skin needs protection from the harmful rays of the sun. Sunscreens don’t add anything to the skin, but they’re a shield to your skin from the UV rays on sunny days and even days where the sun is not out.
When getting a sunscreen, you can do well to check the SPF (Sun Protection Factor). The higher the SPF the more protection you get from sunburn, skin cancer and some skin damages. You should get a sunscreen with atleast 30 SPF.
5. Serum
Serums are skincare products that can deeply penetrate the skin leaving it soft and supple while reducing wrinkles and fine lines. They can also be used to target specific skin problems like dark spots or acne.
They are totally optional, but are loaded with enough benefits for your skin. They improve the skin texture and reduce the appearance of pores while brightening and enhancing the over-all look of your skin. They should be used after cleansing and toning.
6. Eye Cream
The skin around the eye is delicate and thinner than other areas of your face which makes it susceptible to damage, irritation, and wrinkles. The eye cream will help to hydrate the skin which reduces the appear of wrinkles.
It will also lighten dark circles and reduce puffiness while protecting the delicate skin. Eye creams can be applied in the morning or in the night, but they should be used before creams and oils.
If you want to apply any oil, ensure you apply your skincare products first. Oils can penetrate other products, but it’s hard for other products to penetrate oil. Also, when applying your skincare products, it’s best to apply the light weight products before the heavier ones.
Ensure you get products that work well with your skin type, whether oily, dry, or acne-prone skin. Remember, consistency is important to achieve your desired results. Your age shouldn’t determine your looks.
